The Power Behind the Operation

Dream Power's Ben Johnson on running mining hardware out of Shenzhen: Bitmain and MicroBT ties, immersion cooling and an ETC miner for AI data centers.

Ben Johnson opened with a confession: he had not given a speech since high school, about twenty-five years earlier. Then he made the case for Shenzhen Dream Power Technology at Mining Disrupt Fort Lauderdale, held March twenty-fifth to twenty-seventh, twenty twenty-five.

Johnson was the company's regional manager. Bitcoin traded at eighty-seven thousand, three hundred ninety-three dollars that week. Today it is eighty-three thousand and ninety-three dollars.

His first claim was about the industry itself. As he put it, mining at scale is "about control. It's about efficiency. And it's about delivering returns that compound day after day, block after block." The industry, he said, rewards uptime, power density and execution, not speculation.

Then the company. Dream Power sells ASIC miners wholesale and calls itself an award-winning VIP sales channel for Bitmain and MicroBT, invited to their closed-door strategy summits. In his words, "We're in the room where next generation hardware decisions are made," which he said means earlier access and better pricing for customers. But it also runs its own sites: three mining centers with immersion cooling and AI-based power management, and buildouts from one megawatt to two hundred megawatts. It says it has delivered more than one hundred seventy-five thousand machines to over seven thousand customers, with one hundred fifty million dollars in revenue the previous year.

Johnson spent time on one product, the YellowBe, an Ethereum Classic miner he said was co-developed with Yang Zuoxing, the engineer behind the Antminer S7 and S9 and now chairman of MicroBT. It produces sixty-three hundred megahashes in a two-unit server on sixteen hundred watts, and he pitched it to AI data centers whose returns can take eight to ten years, as a way to earn from day one.

He described the company's immersion cooling, built with MicroBT, using dielectric fluid that he said extends hardware life by up to thirty percent and removes dust and corrosion. And he explained why the chairman, Keith Su, was not in the room: he was in Shenzhen chairing a university alumni summit, part of the academic and government ties Johnson said speed up what the company delivers.

Dream Power, he said, serves everyone from a buyer spending one hundred fifty dollars on a home miner to industrial projects of one hundred fifty million dollars or more. He closed by inviting the room to booth one hundred fifty-five to model their returns.
